    Hi There,

I have two questions about this package.

    1) Why is it not suitable for XP?

    2) I cant see the step where the auto-update is being disabled. is it something you have done in the msi package or mst file? I really need to know for sure that the user isnt "bugged" about newer versions.

thank you very much for your efforts.

Apple removed XP from the list of supported OSes in version 12.

As far as the updating... We don't install the Apple Application Update service. The user may still get updated when they open iTunes.

Thank you for your answer Shane,

In the meanwhile I have used my Google skills and created the attached .Reg file.

    This file blocks/disables the following:

    • kParentalFlags_Locked
    • kParentalFlags_DisableSharing
    • kParentalFlags_DisableExplicitContent
    • kParentalFlags_DisableHomeSharing
    • kParentalFlags_DisableCheckForAppUpdates
    • kParentalFlags_DisablePing
    • kParentalFlags_DisableFirstRunWelcomeWindow
    • kParentalFlags_DisableCheckForUpdates
    • kParentalFlags_DisableCheckForDeviceUpdates

I have tested the file on both 32-bit and 64-bit Win7 systems.

For me it worked, hope it will also be useful for someone else.

Thanks, David. I'm going to check out some of these for the next iTunes release.
